Tuesday Night

One last comment from Mikele tonight: I was just reminded of something that happened when I talked to Tam just now. Dorothy's nurses have all of these little goals for her - being able to tolerate being turned over without too much change in her pressures, things like that. One of her goals was met today. They needed to be able to feed her a certain amount through her tube, and have her stomach digest it properly. So when Terrie (today's nurse) told me that Dorothy made goal, I told her that this might be the first time in 10 years that she actually ate everything someone wanted her to eat!

Someone asked about favorite flowers -- thank you so much for the thought, but please, no flowers yet, they're not allowed in the ICU. But cards are always welcome!

Dorothy--

It's Clint. Wow, you're gonna have such a welcoming party when you come back to school. It's gonna be like a flood of people. ^__^' But I'm sure you can handle them. When you feel better, we should go see another opera, or edit those venetian mask photos on photoshop, or make more Final Fantasy costumes.

Hushing-Klines:
My dad was in an accident this past labor day and was put in Sierra Vista. The staff takes excellent care of their patients, and I'm sure she's gonna be okay. ^__^

Haha, yeah. Dorot doesn't eat too much.

Heh, I haven't had much of an appetite since everything happened. Too much to think about and not being able to concentrate on anything in particular. It's odd.

Thank you all so much for sending in your thoughts and wishes. They bring tears to my eyes, and HOPE to my heart.

with love,

Mikele

Mikele- I just received your reply to my first email at the opera. What a marvelous and wonderful thing it is to have this blog. THIS is a good use.

I have had many experiences with accident victims. The most profound recollection I have is from the late 1970s... and things have really progressed since then. A friend's son (age 18)fell off a mountain, without protective gear, and landed straight on his head from 60 feet. He was alone, but a stranger saw him fall. He was not expected to live. But after several days, that was upgraded. So he was expected to be severely brain damaged. But THAT was upgraded: he probably would never walk. He proved that wrong. This young man was an artist, particularly pencil sketching, and water colors. Today, he leads a normal life, and he sketches better than ever; he target shoots, he is married with a family... he HAS HIS LIFE. Believe in these positive possibilities and we will support you in that! -Robert Ashens

Mikele:
My family's thoughts & prayers are with you & yours. My daughter & I have been following Dorothy's progress since I got the first email. Please know that the Lord is caring for her. Its great to hear that fighting spirit we witnessed in Girl Scouts coming through this trauma. Take care.

Dorothy,

It's always a shame when bad things happen to good people. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Get well soon, we all miss your smile. Mr. Forte

Miss Dorothy, I'm keeping a candle next to my computer and I'm lighting it every morning for you. Can you see it? It's in a cut crystal bowl on a crystal pedistal and its light sends lace-like patterns on to the wall. Look toward Los Osos and you'll see a little beacon of care shining for you. Love Sher
